South End Water Pollution Control Centre

Purpose of this contract was to upgrade devices in classified areas to Class 1 Zone 2 requirements. Some of these devices were, lighting, CCTV camera’s, garage door openers, valve actuators, pushbutton stations, light switches, and welding receptacles.

The SEWPCC Ventilation upgrades major components were installation of a new  ventilation system for the wet well and electrical room. Tri-Star automation was the Electrical and Controls Contractor this project; our scope included electrical and controls installation, control panel construction, programing, SCADA

integration, calibration, testing and commissioning. The electrical scope included construction of control panels, and VFD panels, modifications to the existing MCC, the installation of control panels, instrumentation, cable tray, teck cable air pressure sensors and stainless steel tubing.

The controls system included Modicon M340 PLC’s, and HMI, Endress and Hauser Instrumentation (RTD Temp. Transmitters, Hydrostatic Level Transmitter, Thermal Mass Flowmeters, Differential Pressure Transmitters) Magnetrol Thermal Dispersion Switches, United Differential Pressure Switches.

Programming was provided according to customer’s functional specification and programming standards. System interface is provided via the local HMI and integration with the plant ABB DCS. We also provided a Modbus Integration with existing power monitoring and gas detection equipment.
